PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
41st and Fox Next Steps Study
City and County of Denver, CO
BACKGROUND
OV Consulting led the 41st & Fox Station Next Steps Study, an integrated land use and infrastructure plan designed to address a future mix and density of land uses, transportation demand management strategies, infrastructure improvements, and neighborhood connectivity to and from the station and adjacent neighborhoods, including Globeville, Sunnyside, Chaffee Park and RiNo communities. This study included a multi-faceted transportation infrastructure investigation, including bridge and tunnel access alternatives, intersection reconfiguration and safety improvements, bike and pedestrian facility options and connectivity strategies to enable future land use development.
ENGAGEMENT
OV worked extensively with area stakeholders, property owners, and developers to shape the future of this urban location. In response to growing development interest and existing access limitations, the city adopted the 2018 Rules & Regulations for Fox Station East that limit the trip generation associated with new development in the Fox Station Area, making the evaluation of future infrastructure alternatives an important “next step” for this area.
OUTCOME
This study detailed a transportation framework comprised of near-, mid-, and long-term infrastructure improvements that increase trip capacity for the area around the 41st & Fox Station, enhance multimodal connectivity, and introduce opportunities for Transportation Demand Management (TDM). This transportation framework enabled the expansion of development opportunities in this emerging urban neighborhood.
PROJECTS
Evergreen Trails Master Plan and Evergreen Lake Trail Implementation
OV Consulting led the Evergreen Trails Master Plan project, run by the Evergreen Economic District in coordination with Jefferson County. Through a collaborative and robust stakeholder process, the team arrived at key trail improvements linking the community with recreational opportunities and supporting a growing visitor base. Since the completion of the plan, OV has continued to support Evergreen in the buildout of various trails and connections throughout the area, including the Evergreen Lake North Trail Phase II Planning Study and the management of the Final Design phase of work.

National Western Center Placemaking and Transportation Design
OV Consulting led the transportation planning and design for the redevelopment of the National Western Center (NWC) Complex in Denver, CO. Integrated and detailed strategies for mobility to, from, and around the redevelopment site included vehicle and truck access, internal and external shuttle systems, active transportation elements, bike, and pedestrian design, managed curb lanes, parking strategies, and special event management plans. We continue our work with the NWC in an advisory role for the annual management of the National Western Stock Show and the final design of the site’s transportation system.

Northwest Community Transportation Network
OV Consulting managed the City and County of Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) Community Transportation Network Plan for Northwest Denver, a multi-faceted planning and design effort to strengthen the mobility network. OV managed a select team of transportation planners and engineers focused on the concept design for over twenty corridors, including civil design, stormwater management, and traffic signalization and parking modifications.

Pena Boulevard Transportation and Mobility Master Plan, 2022
OV Consulting is leading multi-jurisdictional land use projections for the area, evaluating mobility and planning for Gateway-Green Valley Ranch to inform transportation investment along the Pena Boulevard Corridor. By examining land-use patterns, socioeconomics, employment, future street networks, transit, and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, the firm is evaluating the options for increased multi-modal mobility compatibility in the future.

Washington Area Connectivity Prioritization Study, 2022
OV Consulting led the strategic evaluation and prioritization of a comprehensive connectivity network for the Globeville, Elyria Swansea, and RiNO neighborhoods. This study identified future individual projects to address gaps in the system, leverage concurrent significant investment in the area, and support a neighborhood-driven placemaking strategy.

National Western Center Parking Assessment
OV Consulting managed a comprehensive parking assessment for the National Western Center and Stock Show throughout the course of its 2015 event. The effort included an inventory of formal and informal parking facilities, an assessment of the operational travel patterns on-site, and parking characteristics. OV developed parking strategies to manage event operations and plan for future operating needs.
